9am - 10am
24016 Elrond Lane, Lake Forest, CA
California studies show 65 percent of foster youth, emancipate without a place to live. Within eighteen months of their discharge, nearly 40 percent of transitioning youth are homeless. HomeAid Orange County is working with The Teen Project to address this critical issue for homeless youth. The two organizations are marking a construction milestone with a Wall Raising Ceremony.
When completed the three bedroom house will be transformed into a spacious, functional six bedroom home including a remodeled family room, kitchen and dining area with the capacity to provide a secure and stable home for up to five homeless emancipated foster young women. The average stay in the program will be 24 months with the ultimate goal for each young woman to become productive, independent and self-sufficient.
The Teen Project is a non-profit agency with the mission to provide teens aging out of the foster care system with all of the resources and support of an intact family. In addition, to allow the greatest opportunity for a successful transition to adulthood.

New Mercy House Project

We're in the predevelopment stage of a new project for Mercy House. HomeAid and Mercy House have a long running relationship partnering on four past projects. Outstanding industry leaders are generously donating their talents and resources. Mark Kiner is designing a two-story building that will have the capacity to provide affordable housing for up to 15 working homeless families or individuals. Brent Little of South Coast Communities, LLC is working on development plans. The following engineers and consultants have recently joined the team.

Teen Project Volunteer Day

Since our Open House Ceremony (check out pictures) progress is moving forward. Thank you to State Street and many other volunteers for spending a Friday in June pulling weeds, clearing trees, moving bricks and just doing over all clean up on The Teen Project site. Renovation will begin soon.
